Today we toured Patterson Park and Canton before ending with a picnic along the Canton Waterfront Park. I think the best part about today is we all learned from each other. We looked at maps created by the 5th graders at Patterson Park that shows not only the current park but is overlaid by a map that shows what the park looked like 200 years ago. Students who were in 5th grade in 2012-2013 showed the research they did for the National Park Service for the sign that was unveiled in the park a few weeks ago. The same students also described for us how they created their stencil project of Harris Creek. Finally we watched some documentaries made by 6th grade Mt. Washington students on the The War of 1812. It has both Patterson and Mt. Washington students discussing their archeological dig and their Historic Field Day!
