Today's trip was an extremely powerful one for both the students and the staff. Campers not only learned about the horrible events of that day but the people that were involved. Flight 93 National Memorial explained the day better than any article or any website could ever do. It was carefully researched and thoughtfully constructed. Students got a personal tour from Sharon Sowerbrower. She has been a volunteer on the site since 2003 explaining the details of the day. When the National Park Service took over the site they needed local volunteers to stay on and continue to tell the story. She has also archived the interviews with everyone involved with Flight 93, from the family members of the victims to the FBI investigators of the crash sight. Today was a day none of us will forget. |
